Tags are keywords or categories that you can apply to recipes. They help you:
- Group similar recipes
- Find recipes that match specific criteria
- Organize your collection logically
- Create smart filters and views
Tag Categories
Bartendie provides several standard tag categories:
Base Spirit Tags
Categorize recipes by their primary alcohol:
- Whiskey/Bourbon
- Gin
- Vodka
- Rum
- Tequila/Mezcal
- Brandy/Cognac
- Liqueur
- Wine-based
- Beer-based
- Non-alcoholic
Style Tags
Classify cocktails by their traditional style:

Adding Tags to Recipes
Tags can be added when creating or editing a recipe:
- Open a recipe in edit mode
- Scroll to the "Tags" section
- Tap "Manage Tags"
- Select existing tags or create new ones
- Tap "Save" to apply tags
Creating Custom Tags
To add your own tag categories and tags:
- From the Recipes screen, tap "Tags"
- Tap "Add Category" to create a new group
- Enter a category name
- Tap "Add Tag" within the category
- Enter tag details
Using Tags for Filtering

- From the Recipes screen, tap "Filter"
- Select tags from any category
- Combine multiple tags with AND/OR logic
- Save useful combinations as "Smart Filters"
Tag Management
To organize your tagging system:
- From the main menu, go to "Settings"
- Select "Tag Management"
- From here you can:
- Rename tags or categories
- Merge similar tags
- Delete unused tags
- Set tag colors
- Create hierarchical relationships
Smart Collections Using Tags
Create dynamic recipe collections based on tags:
- From the Recipes screen, tap "Collections"
- Tap "Create Smart Collection"

- Tap "Share"
- Choose to include tags in the export
