Transfer your bar data between devices or back up your information for safekeeping.

Understanding Data Management

Bartendie offers several data management features:

  • Backups: Create complete system snapshots
  • Exports: Generate specific data files
  • Imports: Bring in data from other sources
  • Synchronization: Keep multiple devices updated
  • Recovery: Restore from previous backups

Creating Backups

Full System Backup

Save your complete Bartendie database:

  1. Go to "Settings" > "Data Management"
  2. Tap "Create Backup"
  3. Choose backup location:
    • Cloud storage
    • Local device
    • External drive
  4. Set optional encryption
  5. Add a description
  6. Tap "Start Backup"

Scheduled Backups

Automate your backup process:

  1. Go to "Settings" > "Data Management"
  2. Tap "Scheduled Backups"
  3. Configure frequency:
    • Daily
    • Weekly
    • Monthly
    • After significant changes
  4. Choose retention policy
  5. Select storage location
  6. Enable or disable notifications

Exporting Data

Selective Exports

Export specific data sections:

  1. Go to "Data Management" > "Export"
  2. Select categories to export:
    • Recipes
    • Inventory
    • Events
    • Guest information
    • Settings and preferences
  3. Choose export format:
    • Bartendie format (for system transfer)
    • CSV/Excel (for external analysis)
    • JSON (for developer use)
    • PDF (for reference)
  4. Select destination
  5. Tap "Export Selected Data"

Sharing Exports

Share data with other users:

  1. From any export, tap "Share"
  2. Choose sharing method:
    • Direct to another Bartendie user
    • Email attachment
    • Cloud storage link
    • Messaging app
  3. Set optional access permissions
  4. Add a message
  5. Tap "Share Now"

Importing Data

From Bartendie Files

Import data from another Bartendie system:

  1. Go to "Data Management" > "Import"
  2. Tap "From Bartendie File"
  3. Select the file source:
    • Cloud storage
    • Local device
    • Received files
  4. Choose import behavior:
    • Replace existing data
    • Merge with existing data
    • Import as new (duplicate safe)
  5. Tap "Begin Import"
  6. Review and confirm changes

From External Sources

Import data from other applications:

  1. Go to "Data Management" > "Import"
  2. Tap "From External Source"
  3. Select file type:
    • Spreadsheets (CSV, Excel)
    • Text files
    • Database exports
    • Image collections (for recipe photos)
  4. Map external fields to Bartendie fields
  5. Preview the imported data
  6. Tap "Complete Import"

Cross-Device Synchronization

Setting Up Sync

Keep multiple devices updated:

  1. Go to "Settings" > "Sync"
  2. Sign in to your Bartendie account
  3. Enable synchronization
  4. Select data categories to sync
  5. Choose sync frequency
  6. Tap "Enable Sync"

Managing Devices

Control which devices have your data:

  1. From "Sync Settings", tap "Manage Devices"
  2. View all connected devices
  3. Set primary device (master copy)
  4. Remove unused devices
  5. Configure device-specific settings

Data Recovery

Restoring from Backup

Recover your system when needed:

  1. Go to "Data Management" > "Restore"
  2. Select a backup source
  3. Choose restore options:
    • Complete restoration
    • Selective restoration
    • Merge with current data
  4. Preview changes when available
  5. Tap "Begin Restoration"
  6. Confirm completion

Version History

Access previous data states:

  1. Go to "Data Management" > "Version History"
  2. Browse available versions by date
  3. Preview version contents
  4. Select specific items to restore
  5. Choose destination (replace or new)
  6. Confirm restoration
